真佛宗的因緣和殊勝
「真佛宗」的成立，符合了西藏佛教史上最偉大的學者大師「姜貢空楚」仁波切所著「了義炬」中所說的幾個因素：
創辦人──蓮生活佛。他是現世修行大成就者，藉著禪定和其他非常的方法，明白了一切。
釋迦牟尼佛授記 ／ 阿彌陀佛咐託 ／ 彌勒菩薩賜戴紅冠 ／ 蓮華生大士授密法
人間傳承：
白教──十六世大寶法王
黃教──吐登達爾吉上師
花教──薩迦證空喇嘛
紅教──了鳴和尚（清真道長）
在這個特殊的傳承中，「蓮生活佛」正是一位高階層的轉世活佛，其根基淵源正是：
大日如來 → 佛眼佛母 → 蓮花童子 → 蓮生活佛
蓮生活佛是經過長期苦難折磨才得到大成就。以「實修」為傳統，從耶、道、顯、密而得到大手印與大圓滿。「真佛密法」是蓮生活佛一生證悟的心要結晶，藉著文字教義、教本、實修儀軌和口頭教化，「真佛行者」有一套完整的修持體系和目標。
蓮生活佛弘傳「真佛密法」於全世界，已建立世界性的弘法中心（總堂在摩訶雙蓮池）。「蓮生活佛」是真佛宗派最高的精神權威。皈依者當中，甚至來自各宗教的階層，這個傳承是有殊榮的。
真佛宗的宗旨
「真佛宗」秉持了佛陀的精神，其宗旨：
以佛法淨化人間，以佛學美化人生，以佛理度化人心。直接的傳授成佛之方──真佛密法。
真佛宗和其他宗派有何不同？
「真佛宗」和其他宗派實無不同，真佛宗並不以為自己是真，而其他是假，其實真佛宗的佛法，就是其他宗派的佛法，但是，這個「真」字，有其特殊的意義：
淨土真──西方極樂世界摩訶雙蓮池。阿彌陀佛與蓮生活佛有大因緣。蓮生活佛有印證「西方極樂世界的能力」。
特殊大法──蓮花童子金剛相應法。此修行法是其他宗派所沒有，主要目標是往生西方極樂世界的摩訶雙蓮池蓮花童子淨土。
修持真──確有「明心見性」的實際修持法。真佛宗的修持法是「真佛密法」，主要採用密教修持法，有一套完整的順序：
真佛經──真佛宗的重要典籍之一。「真佛經」是蓮生活佛心光發露，入毘盧性海的心神領會，是玄妙，是深奧不可測的。為了使「真佛經」流傳至永恆，這心光發露的心神領會，是簡捷的、單一的、直指的、更微妙的，直接說出西方極樂世界的摩訶雙蓮池境界。
語密的方便──華語講密法，語言障礙突破。信仰佛教廣大層面的華人獲得真正心靈上深入的覺受，因此真佛宗的發展神速，分堂和信眾遍布世界各角落。西方人士也有專門指導修持的上師，同樣也沒有語言的障礙。
入三摩地法──真實開發人類心靈最有效的方法。密法中，最終且最難得到的「入三摩地」口訣和心要，蓮生活佛發大悲願，把自身證悟的心得，用最簡單的方法和文字說出，簡省了不知多少行者的時間和精力。
真實的憑依──有驗和有證可考。在世界各地，「蓮生活佛」所主持的法會，都是破記錄的人潮，場場爆滿，是佛教界從未有的震憾。「蓮生活佛」得到許多西藏活佛和大法師的尊祟與皈依，是待人誠信、謙虛和經過實際的考驗、印證的結果。
Who Is Grand Master Sheng-Yen Lu?
Who Am I? Who Am I Really? In the past, I have repeatedly examined and questioned myself. Sheng-Yen Lu has been a merchant, a worker, a technician, a survey engineer, a career serviceman, a poet, a writer, a divinator, and a geomancy expert.
He is a Christian (having been a Sunday Bible School teacher), a Taoist Master, a Buddhist Master (shaven and having left home), and also the Living Buddha Lian-Shen — a Tantric Guru. He is a monk, after formally taking the vows and shaving his head. He is the Lineage Holder of the True Buddha School, having founded the True Buddha School to propagate the True Buddha Dharma.
Apart from the above, Sheng-Yen Lu is also a psychic — someone who is everything.
Now, I must sit quietly in the lotus position. Everything in the past died yesterday. Everything in the present is born today. I have walked a very long path and searched a great deal. I will transform into "One." I will transform into "Zero."

His experience gave me a revelation — and through this contemplation I came to understand the nature of self, the path of dharma, and the purpose of this life devoted to the propagation of the True Buddha Dharma for all sentient beings throughout the world.
